How does OnlyFans work for creators
How does OnlyFans work for creators, on the pages we could read: you keep 80% after a 20% fee, balances are in US dollars, and Fenix International Limited in London runs it. You pass an identity check before the account opens.
Is OnlyFans safe for creators is a different question from the fee. The terms put chargeback losses, tax and consent records on you. There is no sourced league table of UK earnings on those pages, so this review does not invent one.
Fenix International Limited, registered in England and Wales (company 10354575), 9th Floor, 107 Cheapside, London, EC2V 6DN. Checked 29 Oct 2026.
Checked 29 Oct 2026. A row marked unverified was looked up that day and not confirmed.
- Creator share Verified
Creators keep 80% of earnings. The Creator Center says creators own their content and keep 80% of all earnings.
- Platform fee Verified
The fee is 20% of the total fan payment and is deducted from each fan payment. That covers subscriptions, pay-per-view and tips, because the fee applies to each fan payment.
- Currency and GBP Verified
Official figure: US dollars. All fan payments and creator earnings are transacted in USD. No GBP price list is published in the terms. A UK bank or e-wallet may add its own conversion fee. OnlyFans says it does not control that rate or those charges.
- Payout methods Verified
Creators must add a bank account, bank payment details, or another payout method, and choose a payout option. The Creator Center says cleared earnings can be withdrawn to a bank account or a digital wallet, and that the options depend on where you live. Named wallets are not listed on those pages.
- UK payouts and banks Unverified
Unverified which UK banks, building societies or e-money apps are offered. The public terms and Creator Center do not name Barclays, HSBC, Monzo, Starling, Revolut or any other UK firm. They do say the method depends on where you live, and that your bank may charge conversion because earnings are in USD.
- Payout speed Verified
New earnings sit in a pending balance first. The Creator Center example: a tip on 1 June stays pending until at least 8 June, then moves to the current balance and can be withdrawn. You can withdraw manually, or use weekly or monthly automatic withdrawals. How many days a UK bank then takes to show the money is not given as a fixed number. It varies by country.
- Minimum payout Unverified
Unverified as a dollar or pound amount. The terms say the balance must meet the minimum payout amount, and they do not print that amount.
- Chargebacks and refunds Verified
If a fan gets a refund or a chargeback from their card provider, OnlyFans may deduct the creator-earnings portion of that amount. Fans agree not to make unjustified refund or chargeback requests. A successful bad-faith request can lead to the fan account being suspended or deleted. No separate per-chargeback admin fee is stated in section 10.
- Creator verification Verified
A creator account needs a valid photo ID and two photos, a payout method, any extra age or identity checks OnlyFans asks for, and a subscription price if you charge one. The Creator Center also lists a legal name, date of birth, mailing address, social handles, a selfie while holding photo ID, and regular later selfie checks. UK creators must complete full age and identity verification before the account opens.

- Fan verification Verified
Fans must be at least 18 and may be asked for more information before an account is approved. In a response published by Ofcom, OnlyFans says UK fans must complete an age-assurance process and give a legal name, email address and payment information before opening an account. Explicit media stays behind that registration.

- UK creator age and identity check Verified
OnlyFans told Ofcom that UK creators must pass full age and identity verification before opening an account. The same response says a third party checks a photo identity document and a live capture of the face, and that creators also provide an address, bank details and social media information before a manual approval. The terms match the ID-and-photos step. This is the platform's own description of its check. It is not a suggestion to avoid it.
- UK fan age check Verified
OnlyFans told Ofcom that UK fans complete third-party age assurance which uses a selfie to estimate age, and that they must also provide a legal name, email and payment information. Ofcom's earlier VSP strategy refresh said OnlyFans had told Ofcom it used Yoti and Ondato for UK subscribers and was working through existing UK fans. That vendor detail is Ofcom's record of what it was told, not a screenshot of the product on 29 October 2026. The current response we read describes the selfie estimate and does not name the vendor.

- Content rules Verified
Some content on OnlyFans is adult material. Creators are responsible for what they upload, must follow the Acceptable Use Policy and Community Guidelines, and act as custodian of records. Anyone else in the content must be a tagged creator, or be at least 18 with proof of identity and written consent. The terms also ban promoting a creator account with Google Ads or similar search advertising.
- Referral programme Unverified
Unverified as a percentage or cap. The terms say the Referral Program Terms are part of the contract, and they ban Google Ads and similar search ads for promoting a creator account. The referral-terms page did not load on 29 October 2026, so we are not stating a rate, a window or a cap.
OnlyFans Referral Program Terms (page did not load); ads ban is in the Terms of Use, section 17
- UK bank-statement name Unverified
Unverified as the exact line a UK bank will print. The terms name the operator as Fenix International Limited, London. They do not say whether a fan charge or a creator payout appears as Fenix International, OnlyFans, or a shortened form. Treat any particular wording you have seen online as unchecked. A card payment or incoming transfer is still a real bank entry.
- Tax note for UK creators Verified
Creators are responsible for their own tax. OnlyFans says it does not advise on tax and is not liable for unpaid tax. If you are registered for UK VAT you must follow its UK VAT Policy. The terms we read do not set out Self Assessment steps. HMRC's own pages are the source for registration, records and deadlines. This is not tax advice.
Age verification and Ofcom
Ofcom expects services that allow pornographic content to use highly effective age assurance. The notes below are only what this platform has published about creator and subscriber checks. They are not instructions.

Verdict
Documentation score: 4 out of 5. The fee, the UK company and the seven-day pending example are clear. The dollar minimum, the named UK banks, the statement line and the referral percentage are not. That score is about the public paperwork, not a promise of income.
Who it suits
It suits a UK creator who wants the reference 80/20 contract and can invoice in dollars. It is a poor fit if you need a written sterling minimum before you start.
Questions people ask
Is OnlyFans safe for creators?
The company is a UK limited company and creators pass an identity check. Safety here also means chargebacks can reduce earnings and you remain responsible for tax and for consent records. It is not a guarantee against account limits.
Where are the OnlyFans UK top earners?
Not on a page we could source. We do not publish an earnings ranking.
